Institutions in Sliven Unite to Help Children in the Process of Deinstitutionalization!

The 3rd of the planned seminars took place on the 3rd and 4th of June, 2015, in the hotel “National” in the city of Sliven as part of the implementation of the project “Prevention of Sexual Exploitation of Children in the Context of Deinstitutionalization” founded by the OAK Foundation and Medicor Foundation. The project is implemented in the districts of Burgas, Plovdiv, and Sliven, and one of its main objectives is to unite the local institutions working with children, local authorities and non-profit organizations in the process of deinstitutionalization and actively help children for their successful adaptation and realization.

Specialists working in institutions, offering services for children and youth in the region of Sliven, representatives of the Municipality Sliven, Municipality Nova Zagora, and representatives of Association “Demetra” too part in this event.

During the seminar the participants were introduced with the goals and objectives of the project as well as with the report of the conducted study on the knowledge, attitude, and opinions of children and youth regarding the problem of “sexual exploitation”.

One of the goals of the training was to bring out the problems and difficulties working with children and youth on prevention of sexual exploitation on a local level.

The content of the Handbook for Prevention of Sexual Exploitation for Professional which is to be released in the course of the project was also discussed.

Another project objective is to develop a network of youth that have successfully gone through the process of deinstitutionalization and have succeeded in life living on the districts of Burgas, Plovdiv, and Sliven so as to actively help children in their future realizations.
